If this is what Oktoberfest tastes like, I'd like it to be October every month of the year. Avery Brewing never seems to disappoint with their beers, especially with their 22 oz bombers of big Imperial versions of classic styles. Take for example this Oktoberfest lager. Oktoberfest lagers are usually heavily malted, but fairly light in color and alcohol, perfect for the Oktoberfest celebration where more is merrier.
This is one of those beers that makes me want more after every sip. Each malt forward sip from this beautiful and deep copper colored lager is delicately balanced with a bit of pungent floral bitterness. The 10% abv is barely noticeable, which makes for a very pleasent drinking experience. When the beer warms down, the fruity characteristics really shine and the alcohol becomes more noticeable. The Kaiser may look intimidating on the outside, but on the inside, the Kaiser is all warm and fuzzy, just the feeling you get after drinking it. Prost!
